But not this time. The West Swindon education and community team
are desperate to find youth workers to supervise a new skateboard
project being planned for the Link Centre coach park.
"Finding adults to work with young people is a major problem, but
we're very keen to organise skateboard sessions in a supervised envi-
ronment," said team leader Martin Hawes. "All the youngsters want a
place to skateboard, with ramps, pipes and jumps, but we need respon-
sible people with qualifications to make sure everything is run safely."
Before the sessions can start, the equipment will have to be built by
young people to RoSPA specifications. So some woodwork skills are
desirable. To find out more, call Martin on 465466.
• A group of West Swindon youth will visit a skate park in Oxford on 31
October to get ideas for equipment needed for the project, and how to
build it. This will be followed by a discussion at Freshbrook community
centre at 6pm. All young people are invited to take part.
