European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL)
ECDL is an internationally recognised standard of computer competence, and covers all the main areas of computer use,
including: Internet, email, presentation graphics, word processing, spreadsheets and datadase.
City & Guilds Start IT
This course introduces how to use a computer, and uses word processing as the main tool to enable you to learn the
very basics. This is a gentle lead in for the absolute beginner.
City & Guilds Level 1 for IT users E-QUALS
This is a basic level course which includes plenty of practise to help build confidence and skills in using Microsoft Word,
Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Publisher.
CLAIT PLUS
A Level 2 IT qualification that is intended to develop your skills in the use of the main Microsoft applications and
enable you to manage and integrate computer files.
ECDL Advanced
This Level 3 course is available at present as individual units in word processing and spreadsheets. Later in 2003,
database and presentation graphics will be available.
OCR Internet Technologies
This short course introduces the student to the concept of using the Internet, web page design and email
systems. Basic computer skills are needed.
Most of our centres run Learndirect courses. These are mainly completed on-line and cover an enormous range of
subjects including >IT, Business, Skills for Life, Assertiveness and Communications. There are 700 courses
available and you can study any of them in our Learning Centres. You get the benefit of help with choosing the right
course, assistance with computer and other technical issues related to your course, support from the facilitators in the
centre and the knowledge that being a student at Swindon College you wilt get the support you need with your studies.
