New classroom at church school on its way
Youngsters at Oliver Tomkins
Infants School in Toothill have
been getting behind a big cam-
paign to raise £12,000 by buying
'bricks' for a new classroom, toi-
lets and cloakroom which will be
ready in September.
Children and their parents pur-
chased £550 worth of bricks in the
first part of June and the school
governors were hoping for a big
boost at the school fete on 21 June.
As a voluntary aided school, the
governors have to find ten per cent
of the building costs over a five
year repayment period.
Headteacher Penny Summers
said, "we'd like to pay off the loan
as quickly as possible so that we
can focus on other needs."
From Victoriana to mobiles as head prepares for new North school
The headteacher of Swindon's newest school is used to working in small schools in cramped conditions, with a small budget. Having come
from the 300 hundred year old East Harptree church school in the Chew Valley, south of Bristol, with four classes, Jane Rodbourn will open
