                                                          Haydon Wick residents concerned with traffic volume and speeds on
                                                          Thames Avenue heard little encouragement that things might change
                                                          at the North Area Panel on 4 December.
                                                           Swindon council officers said that the police were investigating
                                                          speeding issues, but official traffic counts show that the number of
                                                          vehicles using the road was not as high as residents claim.
                                                           No improvement seems likely in the near future to the peak time
                                                          congestion at the junction of Thames Avenue and Westfield Way. A
                                                          mini roundabout, traffic lights or a no right turn order have been
                                                          suggested at various times.
                                                           The officers reported that Westfield Way will be downgraded to
                                                          30mph and that the housing developers were making adjustments to
                                                          the phasing of traffic lights on Thamesdown Drive.
