Facing the future at Salt Way
Parents driven to panic have been transferring children away from Salt Way Primary School since Swindon Council's education department
announced its proposal during the Easter holidays to close the school in January 2006.
A report on the pre-statutory con-
sultation on the closure plan goes to
   the Swindon Education Partnership
   Board (EPB) on 30 June.
The Link has learned that many of
the parents the 140 children likely to
be still at Salt Way this September
have not responded to the council's
request to state their preferred alter-
   native school.
However, as a result of discussions
with parents and governors at other
primary schools, the council is going
to propose to the EPB that Salt Way ,.,,,., _^
stays open until July 2006. In the
   meantime new buildings would be
provided at Shaw Ridge, which will
expand to two forms of entry.
     Furthermore the council would be
looking to governors at Salt Way and s`'
Shaw Ridge to work together to en , (t " .r
