                                                           Are you wearing the right shoes for running?
                                                          With all the fun runs, the Race for Life, half and full marathons
                                                          coming up, many people have been taking to the road, but could be
                                                          doing themselves damage because they don't wear the correct
                                                          footwear, says personal trainer Les Slinn.
                                                            Running is a complex biomechanical process and you risk damage to
                                                          ankles, shins, knees, hips and also your lower back if your shoes are not
                                                          up to the mark to support the weight and pressure being applied.
                                                            The best piece of advice I can give is visit a specialist running shop.
                                                          Unfortunately, you might have to travel to Bristol, Oxford or Gloucester
                                                          to talk to knowledgeable people who will spend time looking at how you
                                                          run on treadmills using videos to see what running shoes are correct for
                                                          your feet.
                                                            Having run the New York Marathon last year it was the best money
                                                          I spent because I knew all my lower limbs were in balance - and all I had
                                                          to work on was the 26 miles ahead of me.
                                                            So before your next training session, have a look at what's on your
