New build, new name on the cards for Hreod,
plus hints of royal opening

Parents at an open evening in early October for next year's intake at Hreod Parkway heard the school will have a different logo when it moves
into its new building next Easter.
Headteacher Andrew Fleet said
that the school was working on
rebranding itself.
There was a suggestion that there
will also be a new name, but all
will be revealed by the new year.
Work on the building topped by
a steel dome covering a glass
fronted atrium is progressing well.
Contractors will leave the site by
Christmas to allow for a three
month fitting out period.
The school is then handed over
to Swindon Council. Mr Fleet said
a great deal of logistical planning
is taking place to bring together
1,300 children and 160 staff from
two sites, ready to start the sum-
mer term in April.
The Mayor of Swindon coun
Mike Bawden toured North Swin-
don's new schools in early Octo-
ber with the Lord Lieutenant of
Wiltshire John Bush OBE. His of-
fice confirmed that a royal open-
ing at one of schools in North Swin-
don next year might be a possibil-
ity but the matter would have to be
considered in more detail.
