                                                                   Isambard is making a bid to become a specialist arts college.
                                                                     The school is home to the Flux project which comes to an end next July
                                                                   after three years funding. The £100,000 capital grant and £129 per pupil an-
                                                                   nually over four years would continue arts and media development work,
                                                                   currently undertaken by Flux. The school has to support its bid with £50,000
                                                                   in local business sponsorship. A decision is expected in the Spring.
                                                                   Hundreds of people, from toddlers to grandparents, enjoyed the Flux Under the Sea
                                                                   Festival in glorious weather at the end of September. Children dressed as mermaids
                                                                   and pirates, enjoyed games, face painting, street theatre, a magical sea grotto and
                                                                   the festival fi nale - a procession of a huge sea monster, below.
