                                                                        The Church in the Park is crumbling
                                                                            Ride & stride to save Swindon’s heritage
                                                                   Lydiard House and the park is a special place, and the 400 year old St
                                                                   Mary’s Church next door gives it a special characteristic.
                                                                     But this ancient place of worship is in a bad way and money is desper-
                                                                   ately needed for restoration. Stone work around doors and windows is
                                                                   breaking up, the roof is leaking and on the inside cracks are appearing
                                                                   and the wall paintings need restoration.
                                                                     Lots of Swindonians have been married or had children baptised there.
                                                                   Many people return year after year to enjoy the special atmosphere of
                                                                   the Christmas candlelight services.
                                                                     Now the congregation want your help - whatever your fi tness - to take
                                                                   part in a Ride & Stride on Saturday 13 September around the twenty
                                                                   churches in the Swindon area.
