Canal group to mark 200th year
The Wilts and Berks Canal Trust marks two centuries since the canal was
started, on Sunday 12 September in the new environs of Wichelstowe
where a brand new canal is being dug.
There will be boat trips, canoe demonstrations and coaches will be Manor Garden Centre, Cheney Manor, Swindon SN2 2QJ
on hand to teach children how to fi sh. On the event fi eld there will be a
children’s fair, vintage tractor and motor bikes, face and henna painting,
a bouncy castle, arts and crafts stands, charity stalls and refreshments.
The trust will have its own display stands explaining the history of
the canal and information about regeneration development over the last
twenty years and what’s to happen in the future.

A section of canal tow path has been restored at Moredon, by canal trust volunteers,
with part of the original canal cleared and rewatered. The footpath route of about combinations
