             Soothing your soul
              … and your soles

If you feel you’re back on the
treadmill, perhaps you need a treat,
             something you’ve never done be-
fore - maybe even a fish foot spa!
Alex Cole, who lives in Oakhurst,
             is opening Swindon’s first garra
rufa fish foot spa – Sole Spa - at
             Basepoint in Westlea this month.
               After moving to Swindon from
             Northampton last summer, where
she taught English for seven years,
she decided to give up teaching to
achieve a better work life balance.

Alex, above, said, “it sounds odd
to have your feet cleaned by fish but
anybody who has been to Turkey
or Thailand where fish spas are
popular will know the soothing ex-
perience of tiny fish nibbling away.
Somehow the garra rufa fish know
where to find the hard and damaged
skin. It’s not uncomfortable at all.
“The fish secrete a natural mois-
turising fluid and leave skin smooth
and relieved. Dancers love the treat-
ment, but anybody on their feet a lot
will enjoy it, as well as people who
             suffer from conditions like eczema
and psoriasis. It only tickles a little
and it’s cheaper than a conventional
             pedicure.”
              Sole Spa, located at Basepoint
Business Centre in Westlea, is not
part of a chain or franchise, so Alex
can develop the business to suit her
             customers.
