Youngsters take Tesco to task and are rewarded for research
A year 1 maths class at Greendown has claimed a reward from the country’s largest retailer Tesco for
drawing attention to faulty goods.
The youngsters wrote to the
company saying that there was
a high failure rate in the fl exible
drinking straws bought by the box
load by their teacher Mrs Gilbert.
The straws are used a great deal
in maths classes but so many are
broken when they come out of
the box making them useless for
calculations.
On analysing a box of 225 straws
the pupils discovered that not only
was there a 20 per cent failure rate,
particularly green ones, the box was
two short.
