Sainsbury’s in the West links up with Samaritans
Staff and customers at Sainsbury’s Bridgemead have agreed that Swindon Samaritans will benefit from a year of fundraising until June 2014.
Community projects coordinator Simon Belcher said customers were asked
to vote by post or online for a long list of suggested causes and Samaritans, SN
Needy Dogs and the MS Therapy Centre were asked to make submissions to a
staff committee. “They were all good causes but The Samaritans presentation
was exceptional and we’re very pleased to be working together.”
Linda Morgan, director of Swindon & District Samaritans, expressed her
delight that the West Swindon store is backing the charity. She said: “We’re
all tremendously excited about the opportunity to raise much needed funds
but also to raise awareness of the vital support we give to people who are
desperate to talk to somebody.”
