our top 5 tips this spring! For Leisure
Inside
With the weather beginning to change it’s
time to get out in the back garden and tidy this edition...
up after the bitterly cold winter. Here are
some tips to help you make the most of
the longer days; where to purchase some
accessories and look forward to a garden to
be proud of for the coming year.
Clean up
Whether you’re a keen gardener or a
complete novice, all gardens need a good
tidy up after the winter months. Tackle any
young weeds that are starting to appear p2
as the weather gets warmer, and mulch Armed Forces Day
with compost or manure - this preparation
will pay dividends in a couple of months
when you’re ready to sow seeds and start
planting. We recommend getting a good
rake and shovel. Cargo and House of Fraser
in The Brunel have a great selection - or pop
to Argos for a bargain set!
Clear paths of moss, lichen and weeds
It’s a back-breaking job that no-one wants p3
to do, particularly when it’s cold and wet
outside; as the weather warms up, get The Royal Ballet
outside and get scrubbing! You’ll need: a
good stiff brush and a bucket of salted boiling
water. Tip: Salted water is an environmentally
and pet friendly alternative to weed
killer. BHS down at The Parade
and Debenhams have gardening
tools, and we suggest a visit to
Wikinson’s to pick-up a bucket
and gloves. p4
