A Swindon Affair at The Platform, Faringdon Road:
Saturday 7 May
Swindon is a town whose writers, artists and musicians have recorded many aspects of
the town’s rich heritage and close communities.
A two part event during the Swindon Festival of Literature will explore the rich cultural
outpouring:
3pm to 5pm: A free session to meet authors, painters and the media. It’s a chance to see
the wealth of books published about Swindon covering its surprising social history, its
poetry, and painting, as well as meeting some of the people behind the best publishing
for Swindon people today, including Swindon Heritage Magazine, Swindon Link maga-
zine, Swindon Advertiser and Swindon Viewpoint community television.
6pm to 9pm: A multi-media evening of readings and performances.
How can work by local authors steer us toward Swindon’s future? John Chandler, author
of Swindon Decoded, will reflect on the breadth of local work published. Tickets are £6
adult and £5 child.
It’s a day to reflect on Swindon, past, present and future.
