From Wednesday 20 May the Household Waste Recycling Centre will partially re-open for pre-booked, essential visits only.
We need to prioritise the safety of staff and visitors on site, ensuring social distancing guidelines are maintained. This will require strictly-controlled access and a limited number of vehicles on site at any one time.
That’s why we’re trialling an online booking system from Tuesday 19 May that residents must use to book a specific time slot to visit the HWRC.
Before booking, please visit our website to find out about a number of restrictions and changes that will be in place. These restrictions are designed to keep you and our staff safe, reduce the build up of traffic in the local area and ensure that we can continue to run our other vital services that operate from the site.
Restrictions will include:
- Essential visits only (where your waste cannot be disposed of through a collection service or safely stored at home)
- Swindon Borough residents only
- No trade customers
- No vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, trailers or hired vehicles
- Maximum of two visits per calendar month
- No assistance to unload vehicles when on site
- Maximum of two people per vehicle
Anyone who turns up without a booking or fails to follow these restrictions will not be allowed on site. Our staff will be checking your booking before you enter the HWRC, please bring proof of address with you (utility bill, council tax bill or drivers licence).
To access the site pre-booked visitors must enter Cheney Manor Industrial Estate from Rodbourne Road (by the Esso Garage). You will not be able to access the site via Akers Way.
If you can, please continue to store waste until we can open the site fully again. Our bulky waste and garden waste services are still running.
