About Us

Swindon Link is part of Positive Media Group Ltd. Established in 1978, we are Swindon’s largest free news publication, in-print and online.  Swindon Link is a well loved community news offering that provides important community news, reviews, interviews and what’s on information for the town. The monthly magazine also has a vibrant business services directory.

We hand deliver 40,000 copies of the magazine to Swindon homes each month, with a 2,500 copies distributed to public places such as libraries, cafes and community centres.

Swindon Link magazine is paid for entirely by its advertisers. It is a firm favourite on coffee tables as a useful go-to guide throughout the month, looked at when deciding which restaurant or takeaway to use, which event to go to or what plumber to call in an emergency.

The Swindon Link website has a strong web presence too, with tens of thousands of unique visitors each month.

The magazine and online offering is brought to you by a team of local journalists who are passionate about Swindon.

Editorial Guidelines

Editorial staff should remember at all times that Swindon Link as well as its sister publication The Ink is part of the community it serves, and act accordingly as regards integrity, accuracy, fairness and impartiality.

If it is an opinion based column that should be clearly labelled in Swindon Link and The Ink.

All editorial staff should familiarise themselves with the Editors Code of Practice, which can be found on the website of the Independent Press Standards Organisation. Particular attention should be paid to the clauses relating to the way in which journalists should interact with vulnerable people.

Swindon Link does not have a party political stance. In stories involving politics, such as reports of council meetings, all views expressed will be accurately reported and given due prominence.

All reports of court proceedings must be fair, accurate and contemporaneous.

Items appearing in Swindon Link must be written to appeal to the intelligent general reader and their publication must be in the public interest.

There must be a clear distinction between news stories and opinion pieces, whether those opinion pieces are written by editorial staff or outside contributors.

All advertising features must be clearly labelled as such.

If a review of a restaurant or other service business is written at the invitation of that business rather than as the result of an anonymous visit, this must be made clear in the published article.

No news item is to be influenced, altered or spiked at the behest of an advertiser. Any attempt by an advertiser to exert such influence must be reported to the editor immediately.

When an error is made, a correction must appear in the next available issue and be given appropriate prominence.
