  • When an emergency occurs, blood loss is a grave concern. Being able to control the blood loss before the paramedics are on the scene could be the difference between life and death. Those first on the scene are unlikely to be medically trained. This is why the bleed control kits are easy to use to stop or control blood loss and prevent a person from bleeding out. When it comes to blood loss, time is paramount. A person can die from blood loss in as little as three to five minutes. Having an emergency bleed control kit on the scene can help provide immediate care to the injured individual. This quick access to products that can slow and stop bleeding could provide potentially life-saving treatment before the emergency services arrive.

The Rotary Club of Swindon North & Thamesdown was founded in 1966 and meets twice a month at the Blunsdon House Hotel, SN26 7AS. It is a small and friendly club consisting of men and women who are committed to "Service Above Self". To find out more, visit www.rotaryswindonnorth.org.uk

The club donated two emergency bleed control cabinets to Owen's World, an organisation launched by Owen's family and closest friends after Owen's fatal stabbing in Swindon's Haydon End area.

Owen was a well-loved face in the Penhill Swindon community, adored by everyone. He thrived in the company of loved ones, friends, and his beloved dog, Jazz. Owen's memory lives on through the unwavering efforts of the Owen's World team. Together, they are set on making their community safer and tackling the issues young people face today, like knife crime. They are all about spreading awareness, lending a hand, and inspiring others to get involved in building a brighter, safer future for everyone. Owen’s World have posted this on Facebook:We have 2 of these bleed kits that have been donated by the Rotary Club of Swindon North & Thamesdown but we need somewhere to put them that is 24 hour accessible. If you can have one on your building please let us know. We are ideally looking at Walcot, Parks, Lawns, Eldene any areas that we don’t already have one.”
