Staff and residents at Ladymead and Kingsmead Care Homes are getting ready to throw open their doors to the local community as part of Care Home Open Week.

Care Home Open Week, which takes place from 15 to 21 June, is a national event that sees thousands of care teams across the country welcoming visitors in, giving people the chance to meet residents and staff, look around the home and find out more about life in care.
This year’s theme, “Care is Coming Home,” has a World Cup feel, with homes across the country being encouraged to get into the football spirit. Residents have already been sharing their favourite football memories and are looking forward to choosing which countries they’ll be supporting during the week.
Byju Vasudevan, Home Manager at Ladymead said: "Care Home Open Week is always a lovely chance for us to welcome people into our home and show what life here is really like. The football theme has already got everyone talking, and it’s been great to see residents sharing memories and getting involved in the plans."
The homes have planned a range of themed activities to bring everyone together, with plenty of opportunities for residents, families and visitors to join in the fun.
Ladymead: Wednesday 17 June, Live Singer and Garden Party - 2.30pm - 4.00pm
Thursday 18 Jun, Virtual Tourist Day – Lunch, snacks and German beer tasting 11am – 4pm
Saturday 20 June, St John's Church Choir and a Cream Tea 2.30pm - 4.00pm
Kingsmead: Saturday 20 June, World Cup Themed Open Day 10am - 4pm with live music from David Ible at 3.30pm.
Local people, community groups and families are all invited to pop in to the Family Barbecue, enjoy the activities and see first-hand what daily life at the home is like.
As well as celebrating with themed events, the week is about strengthening links with the local community and helping people feel more confident about stepping inside a care home.
