The first two events are walks suitable for adults and the family friendly Festival of Archaeology day has something for everyone.

'Discovering Untamed Avebury: landscape, people and nature', takes place on Monday 20 Jul 2026, 10:00 to 13:00. Explore some of Avebury’s best known, and less known, sites in this walk of about four miles. Archaeologist Dr Nick Snashall will reveal the strange and unfamiliar world that Avebury’s prehistoric inhabitants would have known, where wild creatures roamed among chalkland streams and giant stones littered the downland.

£20 per person, booking essential

'Behind the Scenes in the Stonehenge Landscape: Archaeology and Nature', takes place on Wednesday 22 Jul 2026, 10:30 to 13:00. Big changes are afoot in the Stonehenge Landscape. In this walk of about 2.5 miles, Archaeologist Dr Nick Snashall will share the secrets of some of Stonehenge's rarely visited sites and Lead Ranger Keith Steggall will introduce you to the array of chalk grassland species, many of which would have been familiar to the prehistoric peoples who built and used the ancient monuments in this landscape. Discover the secrets of some of Stonehenge's rarely visited sites and how one of Britain's rarest natural habitats is being recreated and protected.

£15 per person, booking essential.
