The cast of the upcoming Summer Youth Project production of Little Shop of Horrors took to the streets of Old Town for a high octane photocall with Mental Health Motorbike Wiltshire, before visiting popular local florist, The Flower Pot.
Summer Youth Project cast members got the chance to meet volunteers from Mental Health Motorbike, a charity that works to support and promote wellbeing within the motorcycling community. Whilst learning more about the charity’s work, the young cast had the opportunity to get up close to the motorbikes offering a glimpse of what audiences can expect when a real motorbike rides onto the Wyvern stage during the August production.
After an exhilarating start to the day, the cast made their way over to The Flower Pot in the heart of Old Town for a colourful photocall amongst vibrant blooms and striking floral displays, offering the perfect background for the young people to get into character, ahead of rehearsals. Luckily for them there were no signs of any strange blood thirsty plants hiding amongst the thorns!
Set on the gritty streets of Skid Row, the story follows Seymour, a florist living in obscurity and despair, until he discovers a strange plant that promises fame, fortune and a chance at love. But the plant’s sinister appetite soon threatens to consume everything in its path.
Featuring an electrifying rock-and-roll score and a razor-sharp book by Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, Little Shop of Horrors includes unforgettable songs such as Skid Row (Downtown), Suddenly Seymour, Dentist! and Feed Me (Git It!). This wildly entertaining musical will have audiences screaming with laughter and begging for more.
The aim of Summer Youth Project is to provide up to 200 youngsters, aged 9 – 21, with the opportunity to work together in a professional theatre. The two-week project culminates in five performances of a full-scale musical under the supervision of a highly skilled creative team including a professional Director, Choreographer, Musical Director, Musicians, and technical team!
