The Swindon Wildcats are getting ready for one of the biggest weekends in club history, as we celebrate 40 incredible years with two days packed full of hockey, Wildcats legends, memories and plenty of celebrations.
Across Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, Wildcats supporters will have the chance to reunite with some of the biggest names to have pulled on a Swindon jersey, before their Legends team take to the ice against the current Wildcats 26/27 roster.
Friday 16th October – Legends Fanfest
The celebrations begin on Friday 16 October as the Wildcats take on the Leeds Knights, with their special Legends Fanfest taking place at the game.
A number of Wildcats legends from across the club’s 40-year history will be in attendance, giving supporters the opportunity to catch up with some familiar faces, share old memories and enjoy a drink together before the game gets underway.
There will also be pre-game interviews with some of the returning players as they look back on their time in Swindon and some of their favourite memories from wearing the Wildcats jersey.
Saturday 17 October – The Big 40th Anniversary Celebration
Saturday 17 October is the main event, as Wildcats come together to celebrate 40 incredible years of the Swindon Wildcats before their Legends take to the ice against the current Wildcats team.
The celebrations will begin before the game, with supporters invited to join the club for an evening of food, drinks, music and plenty of Wildcats memories. It’ll be a fantastic opportunity to catch up with Legends from across the different eras of the club, chat with current players and celebrate four decades of Wildcats hockey together.
There will also be special 40th Anniversary merchandise available to purchase, giving supporters the chance to take home something to remember this historic weekend.
Then, at 6:30pm, it’s time for the game.
The Wildcats Legends team will bring together some of the biggest names from across the club’s 40-year history, with players representing different generations of Wildcats hockey returning to the ice once again.
The Legends roster includes:
Jamie Thompson, Daryl Lipsey, Scott Koberinski, Steve Nell, Ian Richards, Mick Stafford, Richie Howe, Bryan Larkin, Gary Dickie, Lee Brathwaite, Joel Petkoff, Wayne Fiddes, Dean Skinns, Jan Kostal, Tomasz Malasinski, Aaron Nell, Jonas Hoog, Lee Richardson, Sam Bullas, Stevie Whitfield and Sam Godfrey.
They’ll go head-to-head with the current Swindon Wildcats 26/27 team, bringing the past and present together on the same ice for what promises to be a brilliant celebration of the club’s history.
Whether you’ve been supporting the Wildcats since the very beginning or have only recently joined the Wildcats family, Saturday is a chance for generations of supporters, players and Legends to come together and celebrate 40 years of the Swindon Wildcats.
