Swindon businesses, creatives and tech workers are invited to hear from Google experts to get up to speed with the latest developments in the digital world tomorrow at Swindon's Workshed.

People and businesses in and around Swindon can learn about online business and boost their digital skills for free as Google brings Google Digital Garage to Workshed, Swindon’s new digital co-working hub, on Tuesday 16 October.

Google Digital Garage is a place where anyone can come and learn free digital skills to help them find a job, grow in their career, grow their confidence online, or grow a business - it’s part of Google's commitment to provide free digital skills training to students, entrepreneurs and individuals across the UK.

Three courses, running from 9.30am to 1pm, will be available on the day, where visitors can stay as little or as long as they like:

  • Writing for Social Media explores how to create compelling content and develop a tone of voice that’s right for your business.
  • An Introduction to Digital Advertising shows small businesses how to attract new customers by optimising their presence on Google, gathering consumer insights, and online advertising.
  • Know your Business with Data explores how Google Analytics can help you uncover trends about your customers, including how people use your website or interact with your business online.

Workshed is offering all comers the chance for an afternoon of free co-working following the event.

Workshed manager Jolyon Rose said: “This is a great opportunity for local people and businesses to gain new skills and knowledge, and see how they can reach more customers.

“We’re also delighted to offer local people and businesses a chance to try out our great co-working facilities for free.”

Ronan Harris, Google UK & Ireland Managing Director, added: "We are delighted to bring the Google Digital Garage to Swindon and ensure everyone has access to free digital skills workshops.”
