Martin Freeman and Imelda Staunton set to star in drama about murder of Sian O'Callaghan and Becky Godden from Swindon

Martin Freeman is set to star alongside Imelda Staunton in a six-part drama about the investigation into the murders of Sian O’Callaghan and Becky Godden from Swindon.

According to Variety Magazine, the drama “A Confession” for ITV Studios will see the Emmy and BAFTA-winning “Sherlock” star will be joined by Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning actress Imelda Staunton.

Freeman will play the role of Det Supt Steve Fulcher, whose decision to breach police protocol to catch Christopher Halliwell cost him his career and reputation.

The series will be directed by Paul Andrew Williams, whose previous work includes Broadchurch is expected to air on ITV in 2019.?

Due to be shot partly in Wiltshire “A Confession” follows the real-life investigation into the disappearance of 22-year-old Sian in March 2011 who was abducted outside Suju Nightclub in Old Town.
