Jessie May and Westlea Fire Station's firefighters joined forces at the weekend and made a big splash to raise cash for charity.

Since moving the charity's Swindon and Wiltshire team to their new residence at Rombourne’s Kingston House, Jessie May teamed up with the neighbouring firefighters at Westlea Fire Station to host a charity car wash.

Raising money for children's hospice Jessie May and The Fire Fighters Charity, the two organisations spent last Saturday scrubbing cars "sqeaky clean".

Debbie Clark, Jessie May's Swindon & Wiltshire Fundraising Officer, said: “The Jessie May Swindon and Wiltshire team has very recently moved to a new home in Swindon, at Rombourne’s Kingston House, so it was wonderful to meet our friends at Westlea and make a splash with the local firefighters!

“We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved – the money raised from the car wash is hugely appreciated from both Jessie May and The Fire Fighters Charity. The funds raised for Jessie May will go to supporting local Swindon and Wiltshire families through the provision of vital respite care and emotional support from our nurses. The money will also help pay for trips away for terminally ill children, and also means we can continue to provide bereavement support to local families who have lost a child.

“We hope everyone who joined us on Saturday had a fantastic time and came away with squeaky clean cars and fond memories of meeting their local firefighters and charities.”

Simon Owen, The Fire Fighters Charity Station Rep, added: "I would like to thank all those who attended and helped at Saturday’s car wash. It was great to work with Jessie May, a wonderful charity working with terminally ill children. My thanks also go to Fish Brothers Peugeot who sponsored the event.

"Funds raised also go to The Fire Fighters Charity. The Fire Fighters Charity is the registered charity for the British Fire Service. It offers welfare, recuperation, rehabilitation and support to both serving and retired firefighters, their families and dependencies."
