Fairford C of E Primary school is expanding and work to build improved facilities to welcome the new intake has begun. Fairford C of E Primary current 210 pupils roll is set to rise to 315 pupils in the next academic year.
Construction firm Beard, which has an office in Swindon, has started work on the school site with the construction of a new hall, two new classrooms and two rooms for preschool children. A new entrance and administration and reception area is also included as part of the new build.
The building work got off to a ground-breaking start recently as pupils, teachers and people from the local community joined together to see the first spade break the ground.
Head teacher Julie Fellows said: “Everyone at Fairford Primary is delighted with the news that the county council has given us the green light to begin our expansion. I believe this will help the school greatly by helping us meet future demand.”
Marc Bayley, Beard director said: “We’re delighted to be starting construction on this much-needed school extension which will benefit many families in the Fairford community. Our construction team will be working very closely with the school to ensure that the project is delivered with minimum impact and disruption to pupils and staff.”
