Can they bring home the bacon? Big Breakfast Plus is shortlisted for Charity of the Year

Swindon based homeless charity Big Breakfast Plus is delighted to have been shortlisted for ‘Charity of the Year’ in the competitive South West Business and Community Awards.

The charity, which offers a free cooked breakfast and access to support services for homeless people in Swindon, joins a number of higher profile and larger charities in the shortlist for the prestigious award.

Thursday 24 January 2019 will see the return of the annual South West Business and Community Awardsceremony, which will celebrate the region’s most ambitious, inspirational and exciting businesses, charities and individuals. 

This year the standard of entrants was high, with over 300 organisations nominated and a record 88 entrants shortlisted across the various categories. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in January and will be selected from each shortlist by a judging panel, made up of successful local entrepreneurs.

Big Breakfast Plus Trustee and Hon. Secretary Rosemary Curtis said: “As a very small charity, it is a tremendous privilege to be shortlisted for this award.

"We are honoured that the South West Business and Community Awards has recognised the importance of our work with homeless people and the unique service that we provide in the community.”

Nominees will gather in The Double Tree Hilton, at Swindon, on Thursday January 24th2019 to hear the winners in 13 categories – including Charity of the Year. The shortlisted nominees in this category are:

The awards ceremony promises to be a special evening, hosted by respected local business advisor Alison Edgar. South West based TV Celebrity Monty Halls will be inspiring the nominees by delivering a highly motivational keynote at the awards gala. 

Tiny Tina Turner and her six piece band will provide the entertainment for the evening, with a champagne reception and fixed three course meal with half a bottle of wine for each guest.

All profits raised from tickets sales will be donated to charity.
