A Swindon woman has been left "distraught" after losing her handbag in Swindon town centre.

Jennifer Whyte was walking between Regent Street and the back of The Sir Daniel Arms pub early Saturday (29 December) evening, approximately between 6pm and 7.15pm, where she lost her hangbag.

The bag is described as a small soft black bag with two zipped compartments and a long strap. Inside the bag contained £40 in cash, Mrs Whyte's bus pass, keys, a packet of tissues, and a small phial of perfume.

Mrs Whyte has retraced her steps but has been unable to locate the bag. She said: "I have walked the route several times and enquired at The Savoy and Yates, - the only two places I entered - but to no avail. The taxi company could not confirm that anything was left in the taxi.

"I am distraught. I have done the usual and cancelled my bank cards, had locks changed but would obviously like the return of my keys and purse, with or without the contents and, of course, my bus pass.

"If anyone finds my handbag could they please hand it in to the Lloyds bank in Regent Street, town centre.

"I have also contacted the police via the 101 number but they didn't want to know."
