HRH makes three trips to West Swindon in three decades

HRH Princess Anne was welcomed at Swindon IT and Communications company Excalibur Communications on 18 July 2017 to meet management and staff, and unveil a plaque to commemorate its 20th anniversary of the business. The occasion was also a recognition of Excalibur’s contribution to charity and the local community.

Link magazine had its office with Excalibur at Arclite House next to Peatmoor Lagoon. It was an opportunity to meet the magazine's founder and publisher for 26 years Roger Ogle, as well as then editor and owner/publisher Jamie Hill (from December 2018). Roger showed her the first commercial edition of the magazine which featured Princess Anne on the front page opening Greendown School in Grange Park on 23 March 1987. See the April 1997 edition

The photographs taken in 1987 and in 2017 were taken by Swindon freelance photojournalist Richard Wintle of Calyx.

In between, Princess Anne visited Westlea Primary School in May 1998 to meet volunteers involved in the Story Sacks Project invented by headteacher Neil Griffiths.
