Wiltshire Police have said that a fire at the One Stop shop in Pinehurst, Swindon, last year, was not a deliberate act.

The incident happened at the shop in The Circle in the evening of 12 July 2018.

The fire initially started at the rear of the premises and quickly spread through the store.

In the early stages of the investigation, the incident was being treated as arson and a woman in her 20s was interviewed under caution.

However, Swindon CID detectives , now claim that the fire was accidental and no further police action will be taken.

Det Con Stephanie England said: “I am satisfied that, having completed extensive enquiries and having liaised with the Crown Prosecution Service, no crime has been committed and that this fire was not started deliberately.

“I hope the local community feel reassured by this outcome and they can now look forward to the shop moving into its new premises.”
