Drivers speeding up and down Stokesay Drive and Idovers Drive, which run on both sides of Toothill Primary School, are a danger to children and adults say Maria Park and Julie Lupton from Kirkstall Close, pictured.

They raised a 50 name petition during early May which was presented to the first full council meeting on 18 May by ward councillor Dave Cox.

Maria said an accident on 5 May at the junction of the two roads, opposite Conisborough, sparked them into action. "There are children and parents crossing the roads to get to both Toothill and Oliver Tomkins primary schools. They are in great danger because drivers speed along the road and sometimes cannot see pedestrians because of parked cars. We need measures to slow cars and better signs."

Julie, whose parked car was written off on Stokesay Drive recently, believes that Toothill has become a 'rat run' for drivers trying to beat the queue into town by using Stokesay and Idovers to get on Great Western Way.

Coun Cox commented the road safety review panel meets in September to consider which danger black spots should be recommended for action by the council.
