Police arrest man, 40, for carrying a meat cleaver after stopping car in Fleming Way

A Swindon man has been charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place.

It follows the stop and search of a car by officers at approximately 2.30pm yesterday on Fleming Way, Swindon.   During the search officers located and seized a meat cleaver. 

40-year-old Gareth Rayner of Sparcells was charged with possession of a bladed article in a public place, taking a motor vehicle without the owner's consent and driving without a licence and insurance.

He has been released on unconditional bail and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates Court on 17 April 2019.
