Police are investigating an attempted burglary at Swindon Cricket Club in County Road at the weekend.

The incident happened between 3.30pm and 8.30pm on Saturday 16 March.

Substantial damage was caused to the front door of the building during the incident, and a vehicle which was parked in the car park was also damaged. The windows to the van were smashed and an attempt to force open the rear doors had been made, causing further damage.

PC Jamie Brown said: "We are appealing for any information from members of the public to help find those responsible - it is likely that there would have been people in the area during these times as the car park was being used for the Swindon Town game.

"Fortunately, the offenders did not gain access to the hall itself, but have caused damage to the entrance.

"If you have information which could assist, call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190026372 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
