Residents in Swindon are invited to a series of free workshops with Swindon Borough Council planners and surveyors to discuss their home building projects of all sizes.

The informal ‘Getting the Builders In’ workshops will include a short presentation and the opportunity to pose any questions to the Council’s planning officers and Building Control surveyors.

Residents will be able to obtain advice and guidance on a variety of areas including finding a suitable builder, obtaining planning permission and making sure the work is carried out to the best standards.

The Council’s planning and building control experts will also be on hand to explain how building designs can be made to comply with planning and building regulations.

Workshops will take place at the Civic Offices, Euclid Street on the following dates:

  • Thursday 18 April - 3pm until 4.30pm
  • Monday 10 June - 3pm until 4.30pm
  • Monday 8 July - 3pm until 4.30pm

To book a place or request a free ‘Getting the Builders In’ information pack email[email protected].

David Dewart, Swindon Borough Council’s Planning Manager, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents to get some free expert advice on building rules and planning regulations in Swindon.

“I would encourage anyone who is thinking of getting building work done to book onto one of the workshops to ensure the successful completion of your project.”
