Old Town's annual festival is returning this weekend with a line-up of local bands, Old Town vendors, family-fun and even some historical ventures.
Since 1991 the Old Town Festival has been bringing together thousands of people from right across Swindon to celebrate its community, showcase local talent and businesses while raising funds for local charities.
The popular event will be returning for its 28th year from 9 June to 15 June in venues across town.
The festival will be kicked off in style with the Parade at 11am on 9 June starting on Wood Street and then hopping, skipping and dancing around to the Lawns where the Family Fun Day will see over 60 different stalls and activities for everyone to enjoy. It is free entry to the Fun Day but the events will be raising funds for Wiltshire Search and Rescue as the Old Town Festival’s official charity partner. The festival will then come to a close Saturday 15 June with the Bowl Concert - featuring local bands including SexJazz, Stay Lunar, The Ukey D’ukes and Pulse.
Denise Rogers, Acting Chair of the Old Town Festival Committee, said: “After months of preparation the Old Town Festival returns this weekend, bigger, brighter and better than ever before. We have a great variety of activities, stalls and acts really showcasing the very best that our town has to offer. But it doesn’t stop there. Join us for a packed week of events at the Old Town Festival Fringe which really does have something for everyone!
"From sparkling afternoon tea to family cycles, so do check out the website for a full list of events. And who can forget the wonderful Bowl Concert on 15 June? So please do join us this weekend and at events throughout next week to celebrate our community, our local area, and of course, to have a great time!”
Events will be running every day between 9 to 15 June. With free family cycles, a Jazz night, a quiz night, Sparkling Afternoon tea and even a Nude Foods Cookery Masterclass (clothes recommended).
