Following a successful string of sold-out shows, Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra have announced the dates for their Autumn concert.

Following their sell-out concert in Malmesbury Abbey in June, Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra are holding their Autumn Concert on Saturday September 28.

Starting at 7.30 pm in Royal Wootton Bassett Memorial Hall, the concert is an evening of concertos showcasing  talented members of the orchestra with scores including Mozart Horn Concerto No 3, K.447, Krommer’s Concerto for 2 Clarinets, Op 35 and Concerto for Oboe in C Minor by Cimarosa.

A spokesperson for the event said: "Royal Wootton Bassett Orchestra was founded in 1982. It is a friendly, fully inclusive orchestra welcoming members from all walks of life, and all ages. Under the baton of Alan Macrae, the orchestra plays a range of music centred around three major concerts a year and an open rehearsal.

"This year the orchestra performed two Spring Concerts in May and June featuring music from the movies.

"The concert will showcase a number of different instruments so it would be a good way to introduce your son/daughter to the many different instruments in an orchestra.

"There will be refreshments, a bar and raffle. Why not make it a family night out?"

Tickets are £8 and available to purchase on the door, from members of the orchestra or by emailing [email protected]. Entrance is free to students and under 16’s.

On October 12 the orchestra will hold its yearly Open Rehearsal. This year we will be playing the 1st movements of Hadyn’s Symphony No 104 and Mendelssohn’s Symphony No 4.

After that we will be busy rehearsing for our lively Christmas Concert to be held this year on December 14 in St. Bartholomew’s Church, Royal Wootton Bassett.

If you would like to join the orchestra please email the above contact email address, message via Facebook or the website www.rwborchestra.wordpress.com
