Woman in 20s arrested after hitting pedestrian as she made speedy getaway with stolen goods

Officers investigating an incident which occurred in a car park off Fleming Way, Swindon, are urgently appealing for witnesses.

At approximately 12.20pm yesterday (20/10), a woman made off from The Range car park in a Black Mini, following a suspected shoplifting incident. 
 
The woman drove the wrong way through the car park and exited the car park via the entrance, causing two elderly people to take evasive action to avoid being hit. 
 
A man in his 30s was struck by the vehicle as it made off. 
 
A woman in her 20s was arrested on suspicion of theft and dangerous driving. She has since been released under investigation while enquiries are ongoing.
 
PC Craig Beales said: “We understand that there were a number of people within the car park when this incident happened. It was the middle of the day on a Sunday and the shops were relatively busy.
 
“We’d urge anyone who saw the offending vehicle to get in touch with us immediately via 101. If you have a dash cam fitted to your vehicle, you may also have captured footage which could help our investigation so please get in touch.”
