Excalibur Communications, leading South West based communications and IT solutions provider, is pleased to announce that is has been named as a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Small Company to Work For in 2020.

Placed 56th on the list, Excalibur has been awarded a Three Star Accreditation, from Best Companies, which recognises its ‘extraordinary’ levels of employee engagement.   The company saw significant improvements in its score for Wellbeing, rising by 11% from 2019 and up 7% in terms of employees feeling they receive a Fair Deal in terms of salary and benefits.

The Best Companies recognition programme is recognised as a benchmark of employee engagement within British business and reflects what staff are saying about their employers and their workplace environments.   It looks at detailed data on company benefits policies, processes and facilities, and asks for the views of employees via a confidential survey. This covers; team leadership, management, personal growth, wellbeing, benefits and giving back.   It’s the third time Excalibur has been a Top 100 Company to Work For and the fourth year it has achieved a best companies accreditation.

Excalibur has always looked out for its employees and nurtures a friendly, open corporate culture. Its profits have grown by 24% over the past two years and knows it performs well if the team is happy and engaged.   Encouraging good mental health practices in the workplace is part of this.  In 2018, in consultation with employees, Excalibur implemented a Health and Well-being Programme with a focus on physical, financial and mental health.  This, combined with greater team leadership training, has resulted in improved communication and understanding across the business and bought a new approach to ‘change’ within the company.  Change is now implemented more slowly, with colleagues kept informed, to ensure they feel part of the process.

Peter Boucher, company CEO, speaking about the being a Sunday Times Top 100 Best Company to Work For, says; “It’s great to be in the top 100 Best UK Small Companies to Work For.  We want to be a great place to work and relentlessly look at ways to engage our team on a professional and personal level.  With an emphasis on health and wellbeing and good management support, cross team relationships have improved enormously.  The confidence of individuals has grown, with people more willing to take responsibility for decision making and having the confidence to try out new things for us and our customers.  This award recognises the improvements we’ve made and how much employees value them.”

Jonathan Austin, CEO & Founder of Best Companies, commenting, said; “I would like to congratulate Excalibur on your achievement. Best Companies have been producing the accreditation standard since 2006 to acknowledge excellence in the workplace. Organisations like Excalibur have continued to focus on their employees and have been rewarded with an engaged workforce who tell us that this is a best company to work for.”
