More than 50 residents crowded into the Farmhouse community Room
for TROs first ever AGM on Wednesday 1st October. After hearing
and approving the Treasurers and Chairman's reports, the meeting
then went on to elect officers for the coming year as follows:
Chairman BOB BANNISTER 5 Kirkstall Close
Secretary TONY DOLE 9 Rhuddlan
Treasurer ARTHUR WILKINSON 53 Eddington Close
With the completion o f business dead on schedule at 8.30pm, a break
for coffe was taken, thereby giving an opportunity for people to
chat, exchange views and we hppe make new friends.
Following the break Councillors Mike Bawden and David Hulme expanded on their written
answers to a list of 18 questions which had been compiled by the TRO representative comm-
ittee. The questions covered a whole range of items from the provision of street lighting
to the effects on this area of'going into T hamesdown' next year.
The officers would like to thank all those residents who showed that they cared about
Toothill by coming to the meeting. Our special thanks to the two councillors for giving
us their time and answering our questions in a serious but good-humoured way. They have
also said that they will help residents with problems concerning Thamesdown Council until
we have elected our own councillors to do the job. If you have a problem, why not write
to: Councillor David Hulme, 103 Helmsdale, Haydon Wick, Swindon (Labour)
or Councillor Mike Bawden, 23 Carlton Gate, Broome Manor, Swindon (Conservative)
or you can contact a TRO representative for help. Better still come to our monthley
meeting in the Dunwich Drive Community Centre on the 4th Monday of the month.
LASTLY , we wish every happiness for the future to Amanda HopWood who has been our very
hard working secretary since our formation. She's leaving Toothill for New Orleans - we
know you like jazz, but isn't this going too f ar. Good luck also to our new secretary
Tony Dole who, though not as pretty, wil l we are sure do a very good job.
