Be Prepared
-
When are shoppers going to realise how
dangerous it is to walk on the road If you are confined to a wheelchair and
between Pevensey roundabout and Carre- you are at Carrefour one day and you
four? They walk 2 or 3 abreast causing are caught short - you want to spend a
danger to themselves and inconvenience penny - find 5 pence and a telephone
to other road users, purely because When you get to the public toilets
they are too lazy to use the subway next to the Harvester you will be
provided. If someone were to be faced with a sign on the door to the
knocked down there would be a big disabled toilet saying "For key ring
outcry against the car driver. I was 26161"! Presumably somebody from the
always led to believe that roads council will turn up in 30 minutes to
were designed for cars and that open up. The moral of the story is
footpaths are provided for pedestrians. "Plan Ahead". P.S. Not fair Disabled
The sooner people heading for Carrefour people can get a personal key which
realise this the safer our roads will gives access to all the special toilets
be. Ivor Dinnt, Rowndway Down. around the town.
=====""'== DIRTY DOG S-===-=======
For some time the residents of Toothill, together with those in Freshbrook
and Westlea Down, have been concerned over the health hazard and nuisance
caused by dogs fouling footpaths etc. Help is now at hand. Under Section
235 of the Local Government Act, 1972, it is an offence to allow a dog to
foul footways and grass verges.
"The byelaw applies to:
(a) the footway of any highway or of any public place; and
(b) a grass verge which is not more than three metres wide and is
( i) adjacent to the carriageway or footway of a highway; and
(ii) managed by a local authority and maintained in good order."
The fine for offending this byelaw is up to £50.
If you can identify an offender (dog or owner) please inform the police.
If you are a dog owner please take reasonable precautions.
