Shaw Church celebrates Make a special garden
first year in new home Helen Lawrence of Westlea Church describes how to
make a garden which tells the story of Easter
The congregation at Holy Trinity Church, Shaw Village Centre enjoyed Easter gardens are always fun to make. Try this one - it's not too messy.

small box, open at one end.
2. Lay the box in the tray and cover with soil or compost to make a hill.
3. Sink an eggcup into a hole on the top - this will hold water for your
Easter flowers.
4. Cover the hill with moss - you'll need to water this daily.
5. Find a stone large enough to cover the entrance to the box (tomb). You
could lay a path to the tomb.
6. Finally, make a cross of two stout sticks (about 30 cms and 20cms long)
and lash them together. This is probably how Jesus' cross was made.
On Good Friday you can read how Jesus died in John 19 verses 3842.
Cover the tomb entrance with the stone.
On Easter morning you can roll the stone away, take down the cross and
fill the vase with flowers. Read how Jesus showed he was alive in John
20 verses 1-23. Put a note in the tomb with the words 'He is not here - he
is risen' (Mark 16 verse 6). Then celebrate! Happy Easter.
Look! Jesus meets us - risen from the tomb.
Lovingly he greets us - scatters fear and gloom.
Let the church with gladness, hymns of triumph sing,
For her Lord is living - Death has lost its sting.
(From: Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son.)
