Record flower festival fund raiser
St Mary's Church in Lydiard Park
blossomed for the annual Festival
of Flowers and Music over the
weekend of 5 to 7 July.
A record amount was raised
from donations by visitors over
the three days, from the Friday
evening concert and the Saturday
afternoon summer fayre.
St Mary's vicar Reverend Rob
Burles said the events had raised a
total £2,600. "It was a very suc-
cessful weekend. The money
raised will go towards the work of
the church in the community and
running costs; the windows and
heating particularly need atten-
tion. Thank you to everybody who
came and supported us."
The Bishop of Bristol, the Right Rev-
erend Rogerson and his wife Olga, on
his left, visited St Mary's on 7 July.
