Marathon runners raise cash for kidney centre
Twenty five runners from BT will be taking
part in the London marathon on 16 April
including Terry Dixon, right, from West Swin-
don, Simon Riley from Cricklade and Ahmed "`"
al Sudane from the town centre who will be
raising money for the new Swindon kidney 7"
dialysis unit which opened in January.
The centre came about after a hard fought
campaign during which 63,000 people signed
a petition.
Although the Wiltshire Health Authority
agreed to support the opening of the unit, the
full capital cost of providing this facility and
all its equipment was left to the Swindon
Kidney Patients' Association.
To date some £180,000 has been donated but ongoing fundraising is
needed to buy more equipment so that more patients who are diag-
nosed with chronic renal failure can be treated.
To boost Terry and his colleagues, send cheques payable to Swindon
Kidney Patients Association, to Terry Dixon, British Telecom, ppDO05
