Four teachers from Tregoze School, Grange Park have just returned
from a week long trip over half term to the Gambia in West Africa.
Travelling with six other teachers from Wiltshire, the party made the
visit under the umbrella of the Marlborough Brandt Group, which has
developed contacts with the country over many years.
The group had an intensive programme of visiting primary schools
and studying the tourist and fishing industries. The teachers lived with
local families in their compounds and spent a day helping out in
practical ways, such as working in the fields, maintaining buildings and Hop on a quality

trip. Headteacher Steve Menham said, "it was a challenge coping with
a completely different lifestyle. We hope we have made a contribution
and believe we have come away with a better understanding of the
needs of the people in a poor country."
A full report will appear in the April Link.
