Uplands Special School will open in September
2006, catering for 11 to 19 year olds with learning
difficulties. Located near Brimble Hill Special School
on the Campus, Uplands will blend a pleasant
environment with a host of features designed to
satisfy students' educational needs.
These will include space for creative learning, an
independent living area to help young adults prepare
for life in the community, plus spaces for music, art,
technology, food preparation and sensory
experiences. Pupils will also enjoy access to a wealth
of learning technologies and health services at the

addition, the school's design will consider the
students' security needs, including sensitive use of
