served Swindon for 45 years
West Swindon parents have had the option to send their children to
Bradon Forest School, Purton and The Ridgeway School, Wroughton for
many years but Swindon Council is now proposing to stop free transport
to secondary schools outside the area from September 2009.
Bradon headteacher Len Spiers, right,
describes the contribution his school has
made to the development of the West Swin-
don community, reminds Swindon Council
of a few facts, and says the option to send
children to Bradon will continue, even if the
school has to run its own buses.
The current Swindon Borough Council
consultation on school transport infers that
buses have only been provided to Bradon
Forest because ‘historically there has been a
lack of secondary school places in the area’.
