A parent and toddler group where German is the primary language is looking
for members who want their children to maintain their native tongue or develop
skills in a second language from early on.
Activities include games, crafts and singing in German.
The group meets on Fridays, 10am to 11am, at the Salt Way Children’s Centre
during term time. For details call Lisa Mullan on 340589.
Kids crafts with no clean-up
Inspired by her daughter, Tina Davies came up with a crafty way to
ease the stress of getting creative with kids.
When two year old Marquita visited Studley Grange Leisure Park, she
wanted to join in with the art activities but there was nothing suitable
for her age. Mother of five Tina, from Rushey Platt, was convinced that
parents would welcome the chance to share craft activities with their
children without the worry of cleaning up afterwards. “There’s nowhere
else in Swindon where you can go along at any time and have an art
session with your child,” she said.
ArtiKraftyTots has a range of activities on offer, including cutting and
sticking, stamps and stencils, card making, painting, colouring and play
dough. In addition there will be seasonally themed days such as making
Halloween pictures or Christmas crafts.
Although originally intended for tots, there is no age limit, Tina has
seen that older children enjoy the sessions as much as their younger
brothers and sisters. For a fee of £3.50, youngsters can stay as long as
they wish and are welcome to leave and come back. “Mums don’t have
to feel stuck at home. They can come here and let their child make as
much mess as they want. Some say they haven’t done this kind of thing
for years.”
The workshop is open every day at Studley Grange, Hay Lane, near M4
junction 16, except Mondays. For details call Tina on 0779 226 5885.
