Mayor involves all in award
Since 2002 when Mayor Stan Pajak launched the original Swindon
Citizens Award to recognise people for their unsung contribution to
the town, every following mayor tied the scheme to the local daily
newspaper, thus excluding those who did not buy it.
The Link wrote annually asking for a more open approach and we
congratulate Steve Wakefield for involving all media in the promotion
of Pride of Swindon to create an inclusive award scheme.
This year's Pride of Swindon Award has been supported by Swindon Link
magazine, Swindon Advertiser, Zurich Community Trust (UK) Ltd, Swindon
105.5, Intel Corporation (UK) Ltd, AWE Npower plc, Swindon Town Football
Club, Wiltshire Police, Fire Authority, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation
Trust, Voluntary Action Swindon, Honda of The UK Manufacturing.
