Breast Cancer Awareness events
October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Wiltshire Group is calling on readers to support a number
of fundraising events.
Group founder Shirley Garman who died on 7 September, was instrumental in Breakthrough supporters in Swindon and Wiltshire raising over
£700,000 since 1995, putting the group in the top fi ve of 50 local Breakthrough groups in Britain. The work to beat breast cancer continues and
the events in October give you the chance to do something practical in Shirley’s memory.
Saturday 3 October: Race Night at Wroughton Working Men's Club,
Sending balloons to Shirley.

County Ground Legend’s Tuesday 6 October: Curry Night at Bombay Lounge, Peatmoor. Book a
Lounge on 18 September table from 5.30pm. All profi ts from the night will be donated to Break-

Saturday 10 October: Car Wash, 10am to 2pm, SW Group Logistics,
Unit 6, Cheney Manor Industrial Estate. Bright sparkling vehicles for a
minimum donation of £4.50.
Tuesday 13 October: Ladies’ Pink Charity Night, Premier Club, Ermin
Street, Stratton. Representatives from Virgin Vie at Home, Jamie Oliver
Cookware and many more will be selling their goods. Enjoy health and
beauty tester treatments, including Indian head massages and a raf-

Cycling for cancer research
Following a year’s break, Sunday 18 October sees the return of the
Swindon Bike Ride to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The 20 km circular route around back roads, starts and fi nishes in
Lydiard Park and is fully marshalled along the way. Children should be
