Council rewrites its core planning
strategy - and you can contribute
The Coalition Government has scrapped the Regional Spatial Strategy
with its huge house building targets and has told local planning au-
thorities to come up with new development principles based on local
needs and community consultations.
To find out what you think about the town’s future housing needs
and how it should develop, planners from Swindon Council’s forward
planning team are holding a series of meetings at:
West Swindon Library: Tuesday 28 September, 7pm to 9pm;
Walcot Dome Community Centre: Wednesday 29 September, 6.30pm
to 8.30pm;
Broad Green Community Centre, Broad Street: Friday 1 October, 5pm
to 7pm,
Blunsdon Village Hall: Wednesday 13 October, 4pm to 8pm,
A further consultation is being planned for North Swindon but a date
had not yet been agreed when The Link went to press. Mail: PSmith@
swindon.gov.uk to be advised when the meeting is arranged.
